Cyberlibris and ebrary® Announce Strategic Partnership
New Vision and New Tools for Management Education

Palo Alto, California, October 6, 2003 – Cyberlibris, the creator of the leading European management and economics knowledge platform, and ebrary, a leading provider of information distribution and retrieval services, today announced a strategic partnership that will enable European business schools, corporate universities and training centers to leverage their pedagogy, research and delivery capabilities.

Cyberlibris has developed an innovative web-based platform that enables professors and students to gain permanent digital access to a wide variety of premium managerial and economics content ranging from leading management textbooks and expert advice from management gurus, to a unique collection of corporate iconography. This premium content is sourced from major French and Anglo-saxon publishers as well as respected business experts and organizations. The use of Cyberlibris’ web-based platform bolsters teaching and learning by enabling teachers, students and trainees to interact smoothly and at their own pace.

Under terms of the agreement, Cyberlibris will license ebrary’s application services to easily and efficiently create highly interactive databases of content that integrate with its existing platform. Among other benefits, Cyberlibris customers can now use the ebrary Reader™ with InfoTools™ to instantly link to additional online information within Cyberlibris, or on the Web such as definitions, translations, maps and more. Additionally, they may highlight text, bookmark pages and make annotations alongside a document, which can be stored on a personal bookshelf for future reference.

Because ebrary’s application services are based on the portable document format (PDF) – a printing and publishing industry standard – Cyberlibris’ publishing partners benefit from the ability to efficiently and cost effectively submit documents into the ebrary-Cyberlibris system.

“ebrary has been serving the library and publishing industries with its reliable and scalable technology for more than two years,” said Cyberlibris founder and CEO Eric Briys. “Leveraging a set of ebrary APIs, we were able to quickly and cost effectively build upon ebrary’s proven technology, developing a custom solution that seamlessly integrates with our infrastructure and workflow. With ebrary, we can offer a unique business knowledge sharing platform that provides an exciting opportunity for Cyberlibris, our customers and our publishing partners.”

“We are very excited to partner with Cyberlibris, the leading provider of educational technology and content in Europe,” said Christopher Warnock, CEO of ebrary. “By integrating our technologies, we offer business schools, faculty members and students a richer online experience that allows them to take full advantage of virtual learning.”
