ebrary Appoints New VP of Sales
20-Year Industry Veteran to Lead Company’s New Channel Strategy and Development

Mountain View, CA – May 14, 2001 – ebrary™ (www.ebrary.com), the authoritative source for online content and research, today announced that Kevin Cronin has joined the company as its VP of sales. In addition to direct sales and alliance partnership development, Cronin will be responsible for developing and securing channel opportunities that will enable ebrary to quickly and efficiently reach large communities of Internet users while enabling channel partners and publishers to increase their profitability.

In a related press release available at www.ebrary.com, the company today announced the commercial availability of the ebrarian™ solution for channel partners and that it is expanding its business beyond the ebrary.com online destination site. ebrary will make its collection of authoritative, copyright-protected content available through channel partners, search engines and other Websites through its open access model.

Cronin has more than 20 years of experience in executive sales and account management with expertise in enterprise software, e-learning, ASP, B2B and B2C organizations. Prior to joining ebrary, he was regional vice president of sales at Perfect, Inc., an enterprise solution provider for strategic sourcing, responsible for Global 2000 enterprise customers, and was vice president of sales at eDaycare.com (acquired by ParentWatch). He was formerly global account manager for worldwide sales initiatives at SmartForce, an e-learning solutions company, responsible for accounts including 3Com, Microsoft, Sun, Cisco, HP, Adecco, Intel, and US WEST. Cronin has also held senior sales and marketing positions at IBM, Digital Equipment Corporation and Ungermann-Bass.

“Kevin’s background and expertise is a perfect match for ebrary as we are expanding our business well beyond the ebrary.com destination site and aggressively pursuing channel partnerships with e-learning providers, Internet portals and other online organizations, while making our publishing partners’ content available to search engines and other Websites through our open access model,” said Christopher Warnock, ebrary’s CEO. “Kevin will be highly instrumental in helping ebrary achieve its mission of revolutionizing the secure delivery of high-value content and research on the Web.”

“ebrary’s channel strategy addresses the critical needs of online organizations that require high-value content to retain and attract customers and increase the value of their Website property to advertisers and marketers. In fact, a recent Forrester survey found that consumers cited “Quality Content” as the number one reason for choosing a destination on the Internet,” said Kevin Cronin, ebrary’s VP of sales. “I’m very excited to join ebrary and look forward to helping the company achieve its goals.”
