Adobe’s John Warnock Joins ebrary Board
Silicon Valley Pioneer to Provide Strategic Direction as ebrary Aggressively Taps the e-Content Market

Mountain View, CA – May 14, 2001 – ebrary™ (www.ebrary.com), the authoritative source for online content and research, today announced Adobe chairman and co-founder John Warnock has joined its board of directors. Warnock, who recently retired as Adobe’s CEO, will provide the company with strategic direction as it continues to grow its e-content business.

In a related press release available at www.ebrary.com, the company today announced the commercial availability of the ebrarian™ solution for channel partners and that it is expanding its business beyond the ebrary.com online destination site. ebrary will make its collection of authoritative, copyright-protected content available through channel partners, search engines and other Websites through its open access model.

“ebrary is an innovative company that addresses the very critical needs of publishers and authors, who require a secure way to distribute their titles on the Internet; researchers, who are increasingly demanding online access to authoritative information; and search engines, portals and other Websites, that require valuable content to retain customers and maintain competitive advantage,” said Warnock. “I'm very proud to work with ebrary on this important initiative that will revolutionize content distribution and research on the Web.”

Warnock co-founded Adobe in 1982. Within two decades, he and co-founder Chuck Geschke grew Adobe to a $1.4 billion business and positioned the company as the leading provider of software products for graphics, publishing, and electronic document technology. ebrary uses Adobe’s portable document format (PDF) to present documents in their original layout. Warnock holds six patents and is well known as one of the high tech industry’s top pioneers.

“John’s experience in building a highly successful corporation from the ground up plus his expertise in software, e-publishing and graphic design will be instrumental as we aggressively expand our business,” said Christopher Warnock, CEO of ebrary and John Warnock’s son. “We are all very excited to have him join our team.”
