Sarnoff directs Random House's digital strategy and execution—including e-books, print-on-demand, mobile/wireless content—and has management responsibility for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and startup activities on a global basis. Concurrently, Sarnoff oversees Random House’s investments focusing on the intersection of publishing and technology, as President of Random House Ventures, L.L.C. and manages its interests in RHV portfolio companies including Xlibris, Audible, The Princeton Review, Fodors.com and Cocomore. Sarnoff maintains a key role in Random House's global core business as Executive Vice President.

Sarnoff joined Random House's predecessor company, Bantam Doubleday Dell, in 1987, and has held various management positions including Director of Planning for the Sales and Marketing Division; Director of Marketing for the Bantam Publishing Division; Vice President of Strategic Planning, and Senior Vice President of Diversified Publishing and New Media. Sarnoff served the Bertelsmann Book Group as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development from 1995 to 1998. He was named Chief Financial Officer of Bantam Doubleday Dell in 1996 and appointed Random House's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer immediately after the merger in 1998.

He assumed his current position as President, Random House Ventures in March 2000, and as President, Random House New Media and Corporate Development Group in June of 2000.

Sarnoff holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University, where he graduated summa cum laude. His graduate studies were completed at Harvard Business School, where he earned his Masters in Business Administration in June of 1987.

Philip Hoffman

Learning Network is the world’s largest internet based educational business. Prior to his position as CEO, Hoffman was president of Pearson Inc., the North American holding company for Pearson plc from Jan. 1, 1998 through December 31, 2000.

He was Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative and Financial Officer for the Penguin Group, one of the world’s largest consumer publishers from Jan. 1, 1996 to Dec. 31, 1997.

Prior to that, he was Chief Financial Officer, Pearson Inc. and held various other senior management positions within Pearson plc.

Hoffman began his career as a consultant with Price Waterhouse. He is an attorney and a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the CT, NY and American Bar Associations, as well as a member of the AICPA.

Hoffman serves on the board of Data Broadcasting Corporation, an internet based financial information provider publicly traded on the NASD. He also sits on the board of Score!, a children educational tutoring business owned by the Washington Post.

John Warnock
Chairman,
Adobe Systems,Inc.
Before co-founding Adobe Systems, Warnock was principal scientist at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). Prior to joining Xerox, Warnock held key positions at Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation, Computer Sciences Corporation, IBM, and the University of Utah.

Warnock's entrepreneurial success has been chronicled by some of the country's most influential business and computer industry publications, and he has received numerous awards for technical and managerial achievement. A partial list of awards includes: Entrepreneur of the Year from Ernst & Young, Merrill Lynch, and Inc. Magazine; Cary Award from Rochester Institute of Technology; Lifetime Achievement Award for Technical Excellence from PC Magazine; University of Utah Distinguished Alumnus Award; Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Software Systems Award; Award for Technical Excellence from the National Graphics Association; and the first Rhode Island School of Design Distinguished Service to Art and Design International Award. In 1998, Warnock also received the Corporate Outstanding Achievement Award from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Warnock holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering (computer science), a M.S. in Mathematics, B.S. in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Utah, and an honorary degree in Science from the University of Utah.
